Easy Peasy Lime Squeezy Scarf

Introducing the Easy Peasy Lime Squeezy Scarf! The sweet little thing is enjoying some playtime on the swing...but there's nobody there to push!

This pattern really is super-simple and is perfect for beginners, but it's a little more interesting than just plain garter stitch or 1x1 rib. I created it as a transportable-and-don't-need-to-concentrate piece. It can be easily altered in both width and length to fit any neck. Another good thing is that it's reversible, so it looks the same on both sides.

Yarn:

  • Innovation 'Fan-Wolle' self-striping yarn
  • 75% superwash wool, 25% polyamid
  • 100gr=420m
  • colour #1126 (pale and forest green)
  • approximately 150gr required

Needles: 3mm (I used 22cm long bamboo straights)
Measurements: 11cm x 200cm after blocking
Tension: ah stuff it - just go for it!

Pattern

Cast on 42 stitches (or any multiple of three)
Row 1: *K2, P1; repeat from * to end
Repeat row 1 until piece measures 200cm long (or desired length)
Cast off in rib pattern.

To block, lay flat and spray lightly with water and leave to dry.

Yay!

I was just wondering... I just came across your scarf pattern and haven't been able to find the yarn anywhere. CAn you tell me where you got it?

Hi dodgerchick, I bought this yarn in Vienna, Austria. I believe that it's available in Austria and Germany, and also in the Czech Republic.

It's a sock weight wool, so anything similar you have can be substituted. The reason why I like this yarn in particular is because the colour sections are really long. I find that colours change too quickly in many yarns, which looks good close up or in small items, but for bigger items I much prefer the long repeat (in general!).

Happy stitching,
Steffi

Thanks Steffi! It's an adorable scarf! My 17 year old son was looking over my shoulder as I was searching for interesting patterns and promptly said "Make me that!" He loved the color as well.

Thanks again for the info! :)

Steffi,
The scarf was a BIG hit; you made me look like a pro!! I have several requests for a scarf-I did make another one that I striped myself, using 2 different shades of pink-the girl I made it for loved it!! I am now making one for my daughter and my son has requested that I make him one and send it to him in Iraq.
I cannot thank you enough for the pattern!!!

Hi Dodgerchick and Tammy, thanks so much for letting me know how your scarves came along! Sometimes there's beauty in simplicity.

Best wishes for you both, and your children for the new year.
