Snowflakes Tam

I'm in lurrrve...with my own hat!

A quick browse through some leftover yarn uncovered the last remaining scraps from the Revontuli Huivi. It was easy to pair up those scraps with a nice crisp white wool, and, after a speedy search, Ravelry provided the pattern. It was impossible for me to put the needles down for a couple of days, it seemed, and since it was finished last week I've worn it every day!

Designer: Ari Whitlow
Source: Strings and Sealing Wax - pattern here
Needles: 2.25mm for brim, 3.25mm for the rest

Yarn Details:
  • (coloured) Kauni Effektgarn 8/2
  • 100% wool
  • 100gr = 400m
  • colour 'EQ'
  • about 22gr used (plus snipping and chopping of bits and pieces)

I don't think I ever would have been able to come up with those colours together if they hadn't already been together in the one ball of Kauni.

The instructions say to block the tam using a dinner plate, but ours must be small or something because I had to use the dish from the microwave in order to get a good size!

It's so darn cute that I'm in love with it, too! The combination of colors is striking.

To think that you salvaged the yarn from oddiments in your stash makes me want to get in there and do something with all my bits of sockyarn. The hat is sized very nicely for you. I knit hats formyself because that they do not make hats big enought for my big head. This is the first time I have read your blog. I adore the way you found yourself in Finland. Take care.
